Porsche 911 SC RS Group B – R. Droogmans/R. Joosten (Winners) – Rallye du Condroz 1984

Today, we leaf through the album of memories, transporting ourselves back in time to the 1980s. Although I haven’t lived through that golden era of rallies, among enthusiasts, when thinking of that period, a smile lights up faces, imagining fast, wild, brutal machines with spectacular sounds tamed by courageous drivers.

For today’s tale, we journey to Belgium for the Rallye du Condroz, organized by the Motor Club de Huy. The 1984 edition, which took place on November 2nd, 3rd, and 4th in the Condroz region, a natural area in Wallonia located to the northwest of the Ardennes, known for its narrow and winding roads, sees more than 70 cars and highly skilled drivers lining up for battle.

The rally, valid for both the European and Belgian championships, is renowned for its technical challenges and for putting drivers’ abilities to the test, encompassing 48 special stages with a total distance of 372.83 km!

Emerging victorious after days of intense competition and determination was Robert Droogmans, accompanied by his co-pilot Ronny Joosten, aboard the magnificent Porsche 911 SC RS of Group B, adorned with the iconic colors of the Belgian Team squadron.

In this snapshot of motorsport history, emotions remain vivid and tangible through videos and online stories. I wanted to pay tribute to the bravery of the drivers and the power of the cars that made the 1980s an unforgettable era in the world of rallying.
